I travelled 650 km yesterday driving from Lightning Ridge to Carnarvon Gorge, only to discover that due to recent bushfires the walks I wanted to do were closed, and that the shower block had been destroyed in the fire. It was quite heartbreaking to see almost everything burnt, but the regrowth has already begun. A reminder of how harsh this country can be.
On the drive North I had noticed a turn off about 30km back towards Injune, to a lake, so decided to try my luck... Well, as luck would have it I managed to arrive just after sunset (driving on rocky, beat-up, unfamiliar bush tracks in the dark is a interesting experience!)
👌This spot is well worth the long dirt road sidetrack, after all this road trip is all about discovering new locations
